BMS New Desktop Barcode And Label Printers Print Labels For Harsh Environments
January 25, 2010
Brother Mobile Solutions, Inc. announced today the release of two new Desktop Barcode and Label Printers, the PT-9700PC and PC-9800PCN. These printers produce high-quality laminated labels for harsh environment applications in manufacturing/warehouse, telecom/datacom, healthcare, retail, and other vertical markets.
The new PT-9700PC and PT-9800PCN label printers offer end users enhanced versatility in printing labels for industrial use. Using new, unique technology, these label printers enable users to print labels at a range of print speeds, and a range of print resolution, by switching tape cassettes. Users can select between genuine Brother® TZ multi-layer laminated labels which will print at 0.78 ips speed at 360x360 dpi; and HT tapes that offer three grades - "High Speed" which will print at 3.15 ips at 360x180 dpi, "Standard" which will print at 2.05 ips at 360x360 dpi, and "High Resolution" which will print at 0.78 ips at 360x720 dpi.
All Brother TZ and HG labels offer protection from moisture, temperature extremes, industrial chemicals, UV, and abrasion, and are designed for both indoor and outdoor use and produce an extremely durable label for the toughest conditions.
"These new barcode and label printers enhance our space-saving desktop printer line. The new PT-9700PC and PT-9800PCN models print durable, laminated labels using Brother's unique, patented process that enables the labels to withstand many harsh environments." said Peteris D'Carlo, General Manager of the Brother Mobile and Label Printer Group. "The lamination is applied as part of the printing process, which saves our customers time by eliminating the need for a manual over-lamination process. As with the recently announced TD-4000 printers, the price point of these new printers – which also includes barcode and label creation software – makes for an outstanding value proposition."
Both the PT-9700PC and the PT-9800PCN models use thermal transfer technology. The adhesive-backed labels and the laminate are contained in a drop-in cassette, printing and laminating the label in a single pass. The labels can be printed in any length with a half-cut feature that allows multiple labels to be printed on a single strip and peeled off as needed.
Included with these printers is the powerful Brother® P-touch® Editor label design software that works with virtually any Windows®-based application. P-touch® Editor allows direct printing from Microsoft® Word®, Excel®, and Access® databases using the supplied add-ins. Users can create labels with text, graphics, and over 14 industry-standard linear and 2D bar codes.
The PT-9700PC offers USB and Serial interfaces. The PT-9800PCN offers standard USB, host USB, Serial, and Ethernet interfaces.
These new printers will be available after January 25, 2010 from Brother Mobile Solutions resellers and distributors throughout the United States.
